I recommend pairing this course with Here's Baby: Understanding your Newborn (in person) for a comprehensive preparation for the coming months.
For this workshop, Equal Parenting+, we will meet online to dive into what really happens in our relationships when we add a baby to the mix and how to build a strong coparenting team. I will lead discussions with many conversation prompts. We will discuss as a group, but you'll also have many opportunities for you and your partner to speak amongst yourselves.
We know from research that when couples expecting a baby spend time actively discussing how they will navigate the postpartum period together, they do better in relationship satisfaction, sexual satisfaction, and have reduced conflicts in the first year postpartum.
By opening the door to these important conversations you are acknowledging the challenges to come, agreeing to support each other, and normalising the stresses that will arise. I've seen how significantly this contributes to happier, more connected families, and smoother teamwork.
The course is fun and interactive. This is a genderless workshop and all families are welcome.
What does equal parenting mean to you? How do we attain equity? I'll share insights and tips for navigating your new roles and responsibilities as a team. And how to support each other when things feel unequal.
Touched out, maternal gatekeeping, in-laws, softening the startup, sleep deprivation, routines, cultural differences, expectations... Let's talk about it and how to talk about it.
What changes? What you need to know about sex after birth and how to navigate these changes.
